Course Description

The OTHM Level 6 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a course designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of occupational health and safety principles and practices. The course is aimed at individuals who are responsible for managing health and safety within an organization or who wish to pursue a career in this field.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the legal framework that underpins health and safety in the workplace, including the roles and responsibilities of employers, employees, and relevant enforcement agencies.
• Develop and implement effective health and safety management systems, including risk assessment, hazard identification, and control measures.
• Identify and manage a range of hazards in the workplace, such as physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
• Promote good health and wellbeing in the workplace, including the identification and management of stress, musculoskeletal disorders, and mental health issues.
• Recognize, evaluate, and control workplace hazards that may cause ill-health, such as noise, vibration, radiation, and exposure to hazardous substances.
• Investigate and analyze accidents and incidents in the workplace, including the development of preventative measures to reduce the risk of recurrence.
• Develop emergency plans and procedures to ensure a safe and effective response to workplace emergencies, such as fire, explosion, and natural disasters.
• Monitor and audit workplace health and safety performance, including the development of improvement plans to address any identified weaknesses.
