HABC Level 2 in Emergency First Aid
Course Description
The course also emphasizes the importance of personal safety and infection control when providing first aid, and covers the correct use of first aid equipment, such as bandages, dressings, and first aid kits.
The course content covers a wide range of topics, including the role and responsibilities of a first aider, recognizing and responding to emergency situations, basic life support skills such as CPR and the use of an AED, management of medical emergencies such as heart attacks, choking, and bleeding, and management of injuries such as burns, strains, and sprains.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course,Delegates will be able to:
- Understand the duties of a first aider: This includes understanding the legal requirements for providing first aid, the importance of staying calm and organized in an emergency situation, and the need to prioritize personal safety and infection control.
- Use first aid equipment correctly: delegates should be able to use first aid equipment such as bandages and dressings correctly, as well as understand the contents of a first aid kit and how to use it effectively.
- Understand the importance of personal safety and infection control: delegates should be aware of the risks of cross-infection, the importance of safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste, and the need for good personal hygiene when providing first aid.
- Identify and respond to a range of emergency situations: delegates should be able to recognize and respond to common medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, and asthma attacks, as well as injuries such as bleeding and burns.
- Perform basic life support skills: This includes being able to perform CPR for adults, children, and infants, as well as using an AED and placing an unconscious casualty in the recovery position.
- Manage shock and minor injuries: delegates should be able to recognize and manage shock, as well as treat minor injuries such as strains, sprains, and burns.
