Course Description
Rationale:
Oil and gas are essential components of industrialized civilization and economic growth. Although automation has reduced the need for a considerable amount of manual work, important components still rely on human input. Good employer-employee relations are, therefore, critical to the stable production and supply of crude oil for the sustainable development of the Nigerian economy, as well as to the world economy as a whole.
Initiatives and labour creativeness have helped oil and gas labourers to receive sci-technology prices both inside and outside the country, which also have the trade union’s contributions. Many units in the trade union and specialized agencies build regulations to encourage labourers to work out solutions to enhance work efficiency, in which, leaders are always an outstanding example in labour and production activities. Many initiatives are applied in production sector with far-reaching impacts.
Trade unions of different levels have paid more attention to encouraging labourers to join movements so that more than 72,000 labourers in the sector can show their love for work, including 1,300 post-graduates, 16,500 graduating from universities and colleges, more than 3,700 people graduating from vocational training universities and 13,500 manual workers.
The aim of this programme is to explore practices in industrial relations and social dialogue in the oil industry in Nigeria. The programme also examines essential elements for good industrial relations in the sector. It addresses such topics as the positive contribution social dialogue can make towards promoting mutual respect, trust and confidence between the social partners and the Government of Nigeria.
Course Objective:
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to;

Course content addresses issues and skills relevant to professionals working within oil and gas companies, government agencies (national oil and gas companies and ministries) and the support and service sectors to the industry.

Delivery Method:
