Rationale:

Collaboration thrives on Participation. This becomes the hallmark for Industrial harmony, which is the critical factor driving successful partnership in our organizations. The establishment of creative partnership between the trade union and management, in turn generates healthy organizational bottom line upon which the survival of organizations is built. Without creatively interfacing all the critical elements constituting the workplace in sustainable and successful interaction, organizational growth suffers while the capacity of leaders or organizational drivers to ensure that these elements maintain a healthy collaborative relationship ensures that the organization continues to grow systematically and sustainably.

Workplace produces diverse groups and individuals with varied interests and expectations across the company’s entire chain. These expectations and desires are brought into their interactions with other groups within the matrix. The resultant interactions may bring about industrial harmony or conflict depending on the character and the nature of its handling. These resultant relations have serious implications for the overall depth, dynamics and quality of activities within every organization.

Trade union and management interactions in the workplace become the critical factor determining the character and quality of organizational outcomes. Their interactions are however functions of certain variables which shape their attitudes and behavior, thus determine eventually the quality of their outcomes. It is the quality of the outcomes that impacts the organization either positively or negatively. Successful workplace collaborations are therefore the product of effective interpersonal relationship in the workplace.

It is therefore important that we understand what workplace relations means; its various features and character so that its weaknesses and strength are exposed allowing us the necessary room to understand its interconnectedness with the achievement of our various objectives; the challenges and limits it poses to its theories and practices and what roles each of the partners will play in fostering the right kind of organizational behaviour. This ensures that the organization maintains a healthy bottom line thus remain viable and sustainable in the long run.
