Course Description

In this course, we will discuss how organization development enables the people within an organization develop vision, understanding, clarity, and agility. We begin with an overview of the organization development perspective of the organization as a human system. This leads to a conversation about how the organization development practitioner works within that system to facilitate the creation of a healthy and effective organization. Then we analyze the role of the organization development practitioner in impacting the system as a catalyst and an irritant. This course gives a better understanding of the organization development processes and serves to demonstrate how organization development can be used to support people playing an active role in driving positive organizational change.

Whatever business you’re in, there’s a fundamental need to support the people that work there. That’s where human resources and organizational development comes in. You will be able to do structured interviews to gain understanding of the organizational values, the organizational structure, the vision and mission of the organization, or gain knowledge of the day-to-day problem managers and employees face.

We will also provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to do structured observations to know more about how supervisors spend their time, analyze the effectiveness of meetings, or also how effective employees organize their daily activities.

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Explore the growth of human economy and how organizational systems work
  • Identify characteristics of organization development and the organizational development practitioners’ role in facilitating appreciation, curiosity, and inquisitiveness
  • Recognize how organization development can be applied to support people playing an active role in driving forward positive organizational change
  • Analysis how to diagnose an organization in order to get a thorough understanding of the strengths and weaknesses to be able to develop organization development interventions to improve overall business performance
  • Utilize interviews, observations, questionnaires and discreet measures in a structured manner
  • Cite the importance of systemic assessments of different organizational dimensions, such as shared values, structures, strategy, systems style, staff and skills.
